In 2020, the Government of the Republic of Armenia adopted a new decree on the operation of free economic zones, which provides favorable investment conditions and reduces additional administrative costs. Simplified procedures for goods export and import from the territory of the free economic zone have been established according to which the goods can be shipped/ transported without declarations procedures.
There is no obligation to pay custom duties or taxes on exported goods, if they are exported from the free economic zone.
According to simplified method, the exporter has to submit an application to the customs authorities at least 2 working days prior to the export. And the customs authority issues an export permit or refuses to do that if the necessary conditions for the permit are not met.
The application submitted by the exporter shall provide the customs authorities with the customs declaration, goods description, goods tn foreign trade code, the quantity and the transactions that may be carried out with the goods.
The import of goods to the free economic zone takes place through an announcement. Both documents – the export permit and the declaration are registered and controlled by the customs authorities.
